ILYAS AFANDIYEV INTERNATIONAL PRIZE

In 2006, the Ilyas Afandiyev Foundation  Board  established the country’s first “Ilyas Afandiyev International Prize”. The prize is awarded to outstanding individuals, statesmen  and public figures in the country and abroad in various categories: for contributions to culture, art, development of  science and education, preservation of national both material and spiritual values, for charity, for peace support, for democratic transformation in different countries, etc.
“The Ilyas Afandiyev International Prize“ is awarded by prestigious Premium Commission, which includes prominent figures of culture and art, writers, university rectors and members of  the Parliament.
The award consists of a specially made ​​figurine and a diploma.

In 2007, at the ceremony of awarding  The President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus  the winner expressed gratitude for the attention and high appreciation of his work, noting that this award will play an important role in the development of both bilateral state relationships and friendship between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Lithuania, which has a glorious historical past. He also noted that such activities serve to deepen the strategic and partner relations.

In  2009 at the ceremony of awarding the President of The Republic of Bulgaria , which was held at the presidential palace of the Bulgarian president, the winner expressed gratitude for the high appreciation of his activity, thanking the leadership and members of The Board of The Ilyas Afandiyev Foundation. Adopting the award with a sense of joy, Georgi Parvanov said that Bulgaria, as a member of the European Union, is interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan.
The friedship of the presidents of both countries, as well as the centuries of political, economic and cultural relations between the Azerbaijani and Bulgarian peoples offer many prospects for the deepening of relations in various spheres. Mr. Parvanov said that the awarding him the prize designed to foster this collaboration.

In 2010, during the Award Ceremony, which was held at the presidential palace in Lyublyana, the President of the Republic of Slovenia expressed his gratitude in connection with the awarding him this prestigious prize. He said that the Ilyas Afandiyev International Prize is one of the most prestigious and internationally recognized awards. The President said that Azerbaijan and Slovenia are friendly countries and sincere friendship between the presidents is the explicit proof of that. The relations between Azerbaijan and Slovenia are at a high level, and it allows them to grow wider and more fruitful.
The President thanked the people of Azerbaijan for the heroism and courage displayed during the First and the Second World War. The doubtless sample can serve the example of Mehdi Husseynzadeh well-known popularly as Mihaylo. At the same time, he noted that along with the development of diplomatic, political and economic relations, as well as the enhancement the security measures, Azerbaijan and Slovenia should develop the deeper cultural ties. The history of Azerbaijan, its economic and cultural achievements are of great interest for Slovenia and the study of the experiences of Azerbaijan in these areas is very valuable.

The Prime Minister of The Republic of Turkey Redjap Tayip Erdogan said that the Ilyas Afandiyev  International  Prize is nothing like the embodiment of love and respect, generosity and gratitude to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to peace and democracy, science, education, society and  the mankind as a whole.

In 2007 in the Republic of Hungary in the Cultural Center  “Urania “ the ceremony of awarding The Ilyas Afandiyev International Prize to the President of the Hungarian Television “Duna TV” Mr. Laslo Cseleny was held. On the ceremony the laureate thanked the members of the Premium Commission and noted that  The Ilyas Afandiyev  International  Prize will play the important role in the strengthening  of the friendly and fraternal relationships between  Hungarian and Azerbaijani peoples, as well as will open the new cooperation  prospects in the field of culture  and economic development.

In 2008 in Moscow the ceremony of awarding The Ilyas Afandiyev International Prize of  the Rector of  Moscow Humanitarian University prof. Igor Ilyinsky was held. The winner noted in his speech, that it is the great honor to him to be the laureate of this Prize and thanked  the members of the Premium Commission. He also noted that he has been to Azerbaijan for many times, he is familiar with the history and culture of Azerbaijan; the Russian community welcomes  the peculiar way of development chosen by Azerbaijan, which promotes  the deepening  and the strengthening of  the multilateral relationships between our peoples.
